Default Big thanks to DF guys!

Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone in the past that contributed to the FAQ's and 'how to' threads.. After a bad experience with a quicklube.. where the tech didn't tighten the oil filter or check for leaks..emptying the oil pan within a few blocks..(on my company gas burner)... I'm never going back to one of those places. yesterdayI completed my first diesel oil and fuel filter change.. Mayfairs zip lock baggy over the filter trick worked great! The fuel filter change was text book..thanks to info gained here...I had to remove the intake tube off the turbo to have enough room to remove the oil filter form the top..I kept staring at the silencer ring.... maybe next time.. I'm at 10,500 miles now.. and maybe next oil change I'll go back with synthetic.. got my filtersfrom geno's.. again.. wouldn't have known about that place without DF.. so much great info here!

I put a bag over the turbo intake 'just in case'.. if something can go wrong for me.. it usually has a way of happening.. just curious though.. what would happen if the oil filter tipped over and dumped used oil into the turbo? bad things man?

the little bit of oil that would get there wouldnt hurt a thing. just wipe up as much as you can with a lint free cloth.

I normaly remove my oil filter from underneath. give the engine about 2 hrs worth of down time and the oil level in the filter will have pulled down enough that you can get a substantial lean on the filter to get around the A/C compressor without oil dripping out.

we are all here to help each other out. and if you are able to save some cash in the process you can mail it to me[8D]

Not everyone has one of these, but they sure are the handiest tool to have. I drop my filter, use this vac and suck some oil out of it. No spills even with a hot engine
