just today my truck was idling in my driveway for about 15 minutes and then it just shut off. i checked all the fuses and the "engine fuse" inside the truck was blown. it is only a 10amp fuse so i replaced it but it kept blowing. im not really sure what this fuse controls. does anyone know why it might be blowing or if there could be a short? i didnt want to but i tried puting a 20amp fuse in and it blew that to. anything would help

 

I would trace that line and see where it leads. my guess would be the shutoff solenoid if you are refering to a 12 valve.

it may need replacing.

 

do u think there might be anything else that fuse might control....that shutoff solenoid i think your talking about was messed with by the preivious owner i think. all it does now is control the power to my dump bed..its pretty weird and i want to rewire it.

 

that solenoid is the only thing other than running out of fuel that will cause that engine to shut off

 

would a bad solenoid cause the engine fuse to keep blowing?

 

it could cause it. Three wires to that soleniod. two are power and one is ground. Put a meter to it and see what it reads across each coil and from each coil to the soleniod body.
