Default turbo

i have heard a lot of diesel trucks have their tubo kick in right when they accelerate. why it that? also when i first got my diesel, i could hear the tubo more than i can now. is there anything wrong with my turbo?

turbo lag. . .some have more than others. the fords VGT is producing boost right off idle, the new 6.7L is much in the same way. the stock turbo does have some lag in it, but once she starts spinning everything is good to go.

now it being more quiet now than when you got it could mean your air filter is getting dirty.

I can tell you on the Ford's, especially the early model 6.0's, that is just how they are, you still don't start building boost for a few seconds but you'll hear them wind up pretty good.
