Default 2100 miles down

So Saturday morning we headed out on our little road trip. Mileage baiscly sucked but I've got the magic 06 and we were more concerned with hours on the road than almost anything else . Maybe on the way home we'll worry more about it.

Utah was kinda fun to drive through. Moab was NUTS!! I've never seen so many freaks in jeeps . The number of jokers riding w/o helmets was just nuts. I'm sorry but I enjoy my brains more than that; I understand that a lot of states do not have a law that require it but still.

Kept a little tally on the road...if you count the Ranger on the side of the road w/ a blow out on his trailer & the Expedition we had to jump start in the hotel parking lot it was SEVEN. Seven Ferds broke down on the side of the road ~~ zero Dodges btw

day one bugs lost

This guy broke down in WY and had the truck towed 450 miles to Utah. When I walked out they were getting ready to try to jump it w/ a Dodge Journey. I just couldn't let them do that had to get them some help

So now a week of trying not to melt. auuuggghhh Texas sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I woulda HAD to give the guy in the Duty some chit.

I'da handed him the cables and said, "Here, I ain't touching that thing. I know it's DEAD, but it might blow an oil line or something at me."

funny you mention giving him chit...we did I straight up told him I would get him jumped but I would be taking pictures and we would be talking about him on line. He was a pretty good sport about it. He's put so much $$$ into that rig just to keep it on the road. Kinda sad really. The company doesn't respect the people buying it's product anymore it seems.

Nope! That's why I got rid of my Super Duty.

Ford likes to do it's R&D on it's customers.....

When you put out an engine (not the whole vehice.....ENGINE) that has 70+ (I literally stopped counting at 72) recalls and TSB's in less than 2 years, you have issues.

OK I always knew my ODO was off because of the 35's. We have the computer corrected to 33's but it is still off. I just didn't realize how much until this little road trip.

Map software says this trip was 2,175 miles, my ODO says it was 2070. One HUNDRED and five miles!!! 4.83% is a lot of extra miles. No wonder my freaking lie-o-meter is soooo far off from my hand calcs. And heck even my hand calcs are off using my ODO. Still doing the math off of the map miles and ignoring the ODO for a minute ~ ~ ~ 16 MPG. I KNOW we were not being nice to the truck holding a steady speed up the hills. But we were watching our boost & EGT's and trying to keep those happy. Heck we even pulled the front drive shaft to try to bring the mileage up a bit. It is up a bit from our normal at home but highway should have helped more than this.

Figured out the truck does NOT like the 1700 RPM range; EGT's go through the ROOF there; 900 (and the pryo is post turbo in the Jake Brake). Wish we'd gotten a manual tranny!!!!!!!

If we don't drag the Escort back we've got to play with the truck more on hills to keep the mileage up. Stupid 3rd injection event; with fuel prices the way they are I'm not sure I really care about smog anymore. 05 are sooo lucky!!!!
