Default Tranny problems

Well it's been about six months or so since I've visited this site. What with retiring from the military and moving back to Texas. It has been hetic and such. Now my tranny is out of my 04 Dodge, dealer wants 6 grand to replace it. American Guardean the ($%$$#@$$^%) warranty company wants to send a used tranny that only has a 5000 mile warranty to the dealer for them to put in or give me a settlement of 2000. I can take the settlement put 2000 more with it and go to Houston and put an ATS tranny and Five Star torque converter in it. Has anyone had any dealings with ATS. All the research I've done shows that they might be the best. Any info appreciated please reply or e-mail me asap. Thanks. carl07230@yahoo.com

by no means am i an expert. but, in doing my research on tranny's, it is hard to say which one is "the best." i think it may just come down to personal preference. no doubt that the ATS is a great set up. on the other hand, suncoast is also another great set up. which one is the best? hard to say. many people will argue that "theirs" is the best. from what i have read and heard, it truly is hard to beat the suncoast set up.
