Default New Truck

I just want to get some peoples opinions on a truck i'm buying for the ranch i work on so anybody is welcome to chime in. Its a 2006 dodge 2500 single cab long bed (of course) 4x4 automatic with 44,000 miles on it. They are asking $20,000 for it. Is this to much the way diesel is? I'm not a fan of an automatic transmission i had terrible luck with my personal truck with the 47re. This truck will be worked hard and put up wet i am meticulous about maintenance but it wiil be used to pull a 35 foor gooseneck and a 100hp john deere with a 15 foot bush hog. I am really worried that the automatic will not stand up to the pressure. I will not be chipping it or changing anything in anyway so that is not a problem but i know my 47re exploded on me while pulling this set up and all i had was a TST on level 2 and an HX40 turbo. I just want to make sure this truck will be reliable since it will be put to work everyday of the week if not pulling the trailer it will be hauling feed and driving the fields. Right now we are using a 1996 Ford Powerjoke and it will not pull our trailer at all so i figure that this truck will at least be a step up from that but i don't want to pay all this money for a truck and have to call gorend or ATS in a few months. If anyone has any opinions they will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dylan.

Default RE: New Truck

the motor will hold and I'd expect the tranny to serve you better than the 47re did... they did suck from the start from what I've heard. I have a 48re and I ended up having an issue with the band on it, $1800 to fix or $3500 or so to rebuild with a hd TC, have a deep pan (+4 quart) and tranny temps never get above 160*... no problems since the rebuild. My truck has not hauled anything since I've owned it except for a 6000 lb truck/trailer 1x and it did awesome.

I would go for it... but I'm biased
