I have a 2008 6.7 CTD w/Exhaust Brake. Could someone tell me if this turbo has the silencer ring like the 5.9 liter had? If so is it removable like it was on the 5.9?

No, the silencer ring is different. Unlike the 5.9L with the snap ring, the 6.7L is permanently (more or less) held in place with pins. I've seen a picture of it removed. The ring was destroyed in the process and removal did not provide the same benefits as on the 5.9L engine. Don't recommend this mod.

 

I did remove mine, but it was a pita!!! not for the faint of heart. My turbo now whistles very nicely, and I also have a drop in K&N filter, and my airbox got the swiss cheese thing going on. you are correct on the pins there are three you can see one from the top and the other two are on the bottom, and against the engine block... I cut mine out, very destructive Noaffect to mileage or performance, just loud whistle!!!

 

Anyone know where there are pics of this mod to the 6.7. I'd like to take mine out.
