Default BHAF INSTALL

I looked at drews diy on the bhaf install, the only I am wondering is, does the air box stay in the truck and you just lose the top or does it all come out to be able to the filter in there.
Thanks

I can't speak for later years, but in my case the whole thing came out.

Does anyone know if there is a cover for this filter, I am worried that when I get into mud, water and mud will splash up and get into the filter. Thanks

Is there mud all over the outside of your factory air box? If not, there's no reason to think you'll have any more on a bare air filter.

I don't get into any deep mud, but I've never had an issue at all. One thing you might want to consider — for other reasons, although it might help with this as well — is fabricating an air shield. Mine is made out of 1/8" aluminum plate. It goes under the air filter and then wraps up and around it part way. Search the forums and you might be able to find a template... in addition to keeping hot air from the exhaust and turbo from going straight back into the air intake, it might alleviate some of the water/mud concerns you have.

I used an outerwears cover on mine.

Here's a link http://www.outerwears.net/proddetail.asp?prod=2086
