Default dual ac problem

i have a 2003 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel quad cab laramie 4x4 and my ac is giving me some problems and i wonder if anyone out there know what might be going on... the driver side gets colder than normal and blows out a steam like cloud and the passanger side just blows air no cold ac but if you put it on heat it works fine on both sides..... i talked to dodge and they think its a actuator behond the dash and will take 8 hours to fix at 60.00 a hour (ouch 480.00 just in labor) they said the complete dash has got to be removed to access it can someone help me on this mannor

Sounds like the blend door or blend door actuator is broken. This is a fairly common problem on these trucks and yes the entire dash has to be removed which is very labor intensive. Member Parts/service works at dodge and may be able to tell you more.
