Default Fuel filter? (I hope)

Ok, heres the deal, I'v never had an issue with my truck before. This past holliday weekend, I pulled my trailer about 250 miles out to the sand dunes. (24' enclosed Haulmark loaded with 5 quads, 1 dirtbike, tools, & a TON of camping gear) It ran like a champ all the way out there. The next day, it cranks but wount start! I key off & on a couple of times, to listen for the lift pump, which I can usually here if I listen close enough. Well now it makes a different noise, sounds like some kind of pressure relief pop off noise,(PFFTTT) but I cant tell where from? Key off & on a few times, play with the throttle a little & it finally starts, runs rough for a little bit, then seems ok. On the way home, it definitly lacked power, but would run 70. Also, the rpm surges @ idle now. I'm thinking clogged fuel filter, and hoping I didn't ruin my pump! What do you guys think? Also, I'v been running Drews Brew regularly, but after reading some past threads, should I stop using MMO, & replace with 2stroke?

I wouldn't worry about the pump. If the truckis running you didn't burn it up.
I would change the filter just in case. Even if you have as little as 7500 miles on it you could have gotten a bad batch of fuel and that's that for the filter.

My lift pump went out but I didn't know it until I changed my filter. After I broke the seal and let air in the system it would never fill the filter canister. I got lucky and it didn't hurt the injector pump.

i don't have a clue how much it costs but maybe take it to a place where they can do a pressure check of the fuel system just to make sure the lift pump isn't on the way downhill. i've read on here many times of guys that manage to catch it early due to similiar testing and finding out that at peddle to teh floor fuel psi was very low and then replaced the lift pump with a fass or walbro system thus preventing any issues.

Well the new filter seemed to do the trick! The truck seems to run fine now, starts up easy & everything. I do want to install a fuel gauge, but, damn those things are expensive!

check out dieselmanor.com for guage packages, very reasonable. its not a matter of life or death that you have aftermarket gauges. I would simply change fuel filter more frequently, like every oil change or at least every other oil change...that is if you do oil changes every 5 - 7000miles.
