6.7 MPG question urgent
I am considering purching an 07 mega cab 4x4 Diesel, but before I do i want to get an idea of what to expect for fuel economy.
What are you guys seeing in town and on the highway? How fast is your highway driving?
I had a 6.0 stroke and know about costing and staying out of the boost for maximum MPG, but just want to know what the 6.7 is getting. The particulate filter kind of freaks me out.
What kind of issues should i watch for on the 07 diesel?

Most guys with the 6.7 are getting about 14 city 16 highway. The new motors are not getting the mileage the old 5.9's were. The things to look out for with them is the dpf and the turbo. These trucks need to be worked to keep the dpf clean. Guys that are using them to tow and haul heavy loads are doing best with them. Guys that use them as big cars don't seem to be fairing as well.
It's not dodge the federal gov't mandated all the smog crap and all of the companies trucks have lost milage and are still working the bugs out. It's just something you have to deal with when you get an unproven motor.
my dually with the G56 got 11.5-14 city, and 16-17 highway. Unless you work the crap out of these trucks (good pulling and 45 minute+ highway drives) frequently, then you'll need to do the mods. I now get 15.5-16 city, and 20+ highway hand calculated. These rigs run fantastic with the emissions stuff removed. Not only will your mpg go up immediately, but your motor is going going to last alot longer. The power is AWESOME!! I spent roughly $2000-$2300 for my 5" stainless turbo back, egr delete kit, egr cooler delete kit, S&B cold air intake, and Edge w/Attitude. The truck now does every single thing I ask of it, and has not had one problem since the deletes. Yes, the deletes will throw codes and set a cel, but the Edge programmer (and Bullydog PMT) will clear codes at startup. Or, you can just live with the check engine light. It doesn't affect the way the truck runs. You'll have to check with your dealer, but you will likely lose your warranty if you do the deletes. It was worth it to me, as the only issues I ever had with the truck were emissions related. I figure if by chance something on the motor fails, i'll foot the bill. It beats every truck I have previously owned in power, mpg, and daily drivability.

I have the 3.73 rear end. BUT, the way the G56 is geared, it is like the 4.10 with the automatic. I run about 2200 rpm at 70mph. As for the exhaust, I have the BADP (Bay Area Diesel Performance) kit. It's a great kit. Easy to install 2-3 hours from start to finish. I got the Gen1, and now they offer a Gen2 "code free" kit. You'll still get codes though if you do the egr and egr cooler (optional) deletes. So i figured if I was going to get a code anyway, and I'd be using the Edge to clear them at startup, then I may as well save some $$ and just get the Gen1. H&S and FloPro Also have kits. I believe FloPro makes the kits for H&S. BADP has been super busy lately, so contacting them is hit or miss if you need something after the sale (so I hear). But they will take care of you. Below are some links for the kits. Let me know if you have anymore questions. I love my truck so much now, and enjoy talking about this stuff with current owners and possible owners.
