Default Starter Problem.

Here is my problem; I have a 96 2500 diesel, when I try to start it I get nothing. No clicking, no buzz or anything remotely close to the action I’m looking for. My batteries are good (tested) but I am able to start the truck by touching the Positive and the negative contacts on the starter its self with a heavy wire. Starts like a dream doing that, but I don’t want to have to crawl under my truck to start it every time.

When I turn the key it will pop the 40 amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood, I changed the starter relay and still nothing.

Where Do I go from here? Where is the neutral switch? Is there a fusible link some where between the ignition and the starter? Help, I’m getting frustrated.

have you traced out the cables from batteries to starter/grounds etc.... also try cleaning the contacts/posts very well, even the slightest amount of debries on the posts and or starter contacts will cause problems.
