Default newbiw here!

Hi guys im thinking about buying a diesel ram, not too sure about the year tho. But my problem is something i heard..... That in the winter time (i live in Quebec, so we have hardcore winters) its useless to let it run on idle for 10-15 minutes to heat. I mean regarding the heater fan, that the cabin wont get hot. Is it true?

I looked at fuel economy for a manual 2001 diesel ram, and it was almost the same as my automatic pt cruiser gt.....i assume that an automatic cummins would be a lil bit less good for economy but still.......

thanks for the help!

Yea wont warm up... But you can get the smarty and reflash 1998.5-2002 for high idle and three piston fire warm ups.. but only those years will work as far as i know. as for fuel economy, the power to mpg ratio is what is important. PT cruiser may get 20, but does it have 475 ft lbs or torque and can tow 30 foot trailer and still get 15 mpg? lol no. Happy searching.

Ya you really have to drive them to make them warm up. You can also use a winter front that blocks part of the air to the radiator and they have coolant heaters you can plug in at night to help them warm up quicker.

its making me rethink if a diesel is good for me...i woundt pull anything, id use it as a sport truck. So i was looking at short bed regualr cabs. From my house to work is about 20kms (roughly 12 13 miles). With the price of gas, i aint sure a hemi is super great, but i guess that if in the end i have to put money in repairs because the diesel aint for me, its not worth it. Last thing, i wish to appologize for my english as i am a french canadian (althought id rather say that im a french speaking From Quebec... lol)

I don't beleive you can get the cummins motor in a short bed regular cab configuration. It would be a cool sport truck but I don't think they come that way.
