Default 1999 dodge low power

Hi
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel and when i tow my trailer up hill i suddenly run out of power, the peddle is all the way down an there is no power. I pulled over for 5 min and left the engine running , I then pulled away and had no other problems. What could cause this?

I have a Jake brake I'm not sure if that might Have something to do with it.
The engine temp was around 250f

Have you tried towing after you replaced the parts?

I have same problem "kinda" although it happens whenever I use the cruise control when I slow down and drive off of cruis control mystery happens and I loose treddle control but i regain it after 30 seconds or there abouts. also the check engine light comes on. just saying it's being a mystery hiccup. been looking into it cautiously because i don't want to just go throwing parts at it I have a few other things going on as well that completely have me baffled as well.
