Beings you don't have the cat you probably have the CR motor as steve05ram360 said.I also think in that year that if you have an auto you have the CR motor. If you have a manual then I believe they put the High Output motor in. Don't quote me on those though. If you want cheap power with different settings then a programmer would be a good way to go. I had a chip ( an Edge) go bad and where it had to be under the hood all the time in all the heat things get hot and corrode. The programmer is nice because you plug it in and then you are good to go. Some you can even switch on the fly. I have programmer for sale off of an 03 cummins that has 4 different settings. Extra 140 horse on the highest. Let me know if interested.

03 and up, ALL diesel engines in Dodges are Common Rail. There were three versions; a California emissions (235hp) a Standard output (245hp) and the High Output (305hp/555trq)
When they were first released, you could ONLY get the HO w/ a 6 speed manual (NV5600). The other engines had a 5 speed manual (NV4500) Mid-year 03 they released the 48re automatic behind the HO. No HO came with the 5 speed...
In 04.5 they released the Cummins 610; 50 State emissions legal. Came with a cat.
Ok, we got that cleared up. Now for power. First, before you add any power, you really need to get a lift pump (AirDog, FASS) They factory lift pump is prone to failure with added power, and isnt as good as the 05-later. They did retrofit the later pump to the earlier trucks...
Edge Juice w/ Attitude is a good unit for towing. Has integrated gauges in the controller.
Smarty Jr. is a programmer. Not adjustable on the fly as-of-yet. But really, all you need to adjust power is your right foot...
TST makes a real good box. It can be set as mild or wild as you want. It does need mods to reach its full potential, just as all are really...
Which transmission do you have?
And to find which engine you have, look on the APPS. Its under the air intake horn on the drivers side of the engine. There will be a metal plate that wraps around the edge of the APPS, and will have the Advertised HP listed. The same tag may also be on the side of the valve cover. My 03 has it on the APPS, but my 07 has it on the side of the head. Just depends on where the APPS is located.
