Default Cat 2-Micron mounted with APPS..It can be done!

After hearing horror stories about guys loosing the Injection Pumps and or Injector/s do to dirty fuel. I did some research. What I found is that now with the newer High Pressure Injector Pumps and Rail Systems that can reach up to 24,000 to 30,000 PSI to meet the emissions standards and complete an injection cycle in about 5/1,000ths of a second. That most Injector Pump Companys one being Bosch that builds the Injector Pump to the Cummins motor recommends that you run a High Efficiency 2-micron fuel filter. A 10-Micron Fuel Filter nominal rating will stop about half of the abrasive particles 10-microns or higher.
I decide I wanted to install a High Efficiency 2-micron Fuel Filter on my truck. All of the After Market 2-Micron Fuel Filter Kits for my truck which has the APPS on the motor is designed to be mounted under the truck and attached to the frame. I really did not like that ideal do to road hazards and extreme cold weather. I designed and built my remote fuel filter system so it installs under the hood where it would be safe & out of the weather. I was able to put together a Caterpillar Advanced Efficiency 2-Micron fuel filter system for my truck that has the APPS. "ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR" which is mount on the front side of the Cummins motor.
I built a mounting bracket that mounts over top of the APPS. Now the fuel is running into my stock fuel/water separator canister where there is a Baldwin PF7977 5-Micron fuel filter then it runs into the Cat 2-Micron filter. So now I should have nice clean fuel running into my Injector Pump & Injectors. Everything worked out great...Gives me a piece of mind now.
Before anybody says anything! I don't have gauges on my truck as of yet. So I added the gauge just for fun to dress it up & also it does give me a way to check fuel pressure if I think I'm having a problem. I know the gauge isn't going to last long being it is a dry gauge but if I decide to leave the gauge in I'll replace with a liquid filled gauge.
Has we all know not all areas that you travel to have Large Truck Stops such as Flying J or T/A's that has a large turn over of diesel fuel so you know that the Diesel Fuel you are getting is pretty much clean. In some place there is nothing more then what I call a Mom & Pop Gas Station. The smaller Gas stations don't move large amounts of Diesel so their Diesel may sit in there tank for long periods at a time. Bad or Dirty Diesel can be very costly as some of you may already know.
Just wanted to share this with those of you that maintain your own trucks and that are concerned about where you buy your Diesel Fuel and your Fuel Filter System.
