i have a 2002 ctd 2500 4x4 auto i want to put a edge programer on it but the truck has 170000 miles on it is it to late

The engine isn't the issue. Hell that's just broken in.

Is it still on the stock tranny?

ya it is the stock tranny u think i might have a issue with the stock tranny teh stock tranny is giving me a little greaf when i trys to go into over drive it goes in and out like 6-10 times a programmer will prob be the last straw for the stocker??

mine did that shifting in and out thing too, it ended up being the "range sensor" it was on the driver side just beside the pan, it's the only sensor there.

Before you start replacing sensors, clean your battery terminals, ground cable connections and the connections to your tranny.

Most of the problems with the second gens shifting in and out of gears is due to bad electrical connections more than anything.
