Angry engine light on and trans not wanting to shift

So I got in my truck this afternoon and as i pulled out of the intersection i noticed the trans didn't shift like normal. After the trans acting funny I noticed the engine light on.. It does shift eventually but it's not shifting until it hits around 2500 rpm.. has anyone else had this problem before and what did you do to fix it?

it's an 05 5.9 ctd with no mods other than yanked out cat and a straight through mbrp muffler.

any help would be great.

thanks.

also, I forgot to mention that the truck only has 42000 miles on it, It's still so young there should be nothing wrong with it.

What codes is it showing?

Cycle the key to run 3 times with 5 seconds and the code will display on the odometer.

On, off, on, off, on within 5 secs.

Unless it's got an extended warranty, he's not covered.

Seriously, clean your electrical connections before your start throwing parts at it.

But first, you need to know what the codes are.

I found the trouble codes listed under another post on the forum...
P1751: Transmission throttle valve position minimum range performance
P1754: Transmission throttle valve actuator stuck

Now I just need to figure out what to do about them. throttle valve actuator sounds like something that is internal and if that's the case i'm taking it in to let dodge fix it.
I do have an extended warranty and the dodge powertrain warranty is good out to 70,000 so if dodge won't cover it i hope that the extended warranty I purchased will.

Sounds like your valve body took a dump.

The TTV and actuator are in the valve body.

It could be as simple as a tranny flush to free the stuck components. How long has it been since the tranny was flushed?

Worst case, you'd have to replace the valve body. This does not require the removal of the tranny and is actually pretty simple to do in the driveway, it's just messy.

All you need to do is drain the tranny (messy part), pull the pan off, and remove the filter and valve body.

If you need to replace the valve body, do yourself a favor and upgrade to a SunCoast, Goerend or ATS. You'll be much happier with the shifting.

A good valve body from one of them will run between $400 - $500, so if you have to pay for it, don't pay more than that for an OEM one.

I took it in to the dealer yesterday with the trouble codes that came up on the odometer, They still wanted to charge me $98.00 for a diagnostic.. ridiculous.
So, I told them to go ahead and fix it and i'd just pay for it if it wasn't covered.

Now for the good part.. They came up with the same 2 trouble codes that I did and ended up replacing the Transmission Throttle Valve Actuator.

And the best part.. The repair was covered under the emissions warranty which shocked the service advisor and me. The emissions warranty is a lifetime thing so if anyone else gets these trouble codes P1751 and p1754 give it a shot they'll probably fix it for free.

Thanks for all the help, I have my truck back to it's old self again.
