Unhappy 08 charging problem wits end

Been enjoying site for awhile now.First post. Bought truck wrecked of course batery wires were cut by emergency crew. Got truck ready to drive and have an issue with charging. Cut wires were replaced with new. When started the alternator gets hot. Replaced box on driverside fender where battery cable runs to. And also replaced alternator. Started truck and showed 14 volts charge but alternator got hot again. So now I could use your help. Truck only has 17000 miles on it lot of life left in the cummins.

Hmmm...I have seen alternators bad right outta the box...along with starters. Maybe take it to a starter shop and let them have a look. Maybe test it. Btw...14 Amps or 14 Volts??
