It's in the tank if i'm not mistaken. A friend of my has a completely faulty gauge, it always registers empty. We are going to drop his tank in a week or so and make sure the sender is still even connected and make sure wires and what not are not corroded out.

My gauge works fine from full down to a quarter tank. Beyond that I don't know where its at. I actually found that out for the first time after I bought the truck and ran it out of fuel =/ I had to crack the injectors to get it running again. Ran like crap for about 20 minutes before it worked ALLLLL of the bubbles out. I didn't smack the throttle until it was running clean though.

Seems that this is a common problem.
