Default question about injectors

i have a early 04 and just had 50 horse injectors put in it. after looking at the bill i noticed that it said the injectors were for a 04.5 to a 05. my truck smokes real bad now even when just trying to drive normal. is this normal for 50 horse injectors? and is there a differance between the 04 and 04.5 plus 50 injectors?

I'm assuming you just switched the nozzles, right?

What do you mean by "smokes real bad"?

With the stuff in your sig, you can make a ton of smoke even on stock sticks.

Here's a truck that is running similar tuning to you, but no FASS or sticks and he's smokin like a demon.

What you need to remember is that hardware HP is bit more dramatic than electronic horsepower. It's always there, it's always on. HP vs HP, hardware mods make more umph.

My truck is an '06 and I run 03/04 nozzles, so that shouldn't be a problem.

How's it idling?

Do you have a rail pressure gauge?

Where did you have them done and why didn't they just do an injector isolation test to figure out which one was bad? Takes 5 minutes and would have saved ya a few grand on whole injectors.

its idles fine and starts good. and yes i have a rail pressure gauge. i had the work done at a local garage that works on diesels. he tested the fuel pressure at each injector and found one line that was loose. he tighten it and it ran fine but after doing a test run it didnt want to start again. and once it did it had a high ideal to it. he told me we could send the injectors off and have them tested but i needed my truck yesterday if you know what i mean. so the fastest way was with new injectors. i talked to him this morning and yes he made a mistake and put 04.5 plus 50 injectors in it. so maybe thats why if feels like its loading up at a stop light and runs fine when the rpms get up a little.

If it feels like it's loading up at a light AND you have the excess smoke, I'm betting one of those injectors is leaking.

Is it smoking excessively at idle? 50HP sticks shouldn't even haze at idle.

1 - Check your oil level and make sure you're not "making" oil

2 - Pull the dipstick and let it drip onto a paper towel. If there is fuel contamination, you'll see a rainbow colored ring around the oil.
