Default HELP!!!!!!!!!Tranny Down Shifting While Driving

Can anyone help here. I have a 2006 Dodgeram 3500. 84000 Miles. When I'm towing in tow mode @ (60 MPH) my trans will down shift then shift right back up. Drive for a little bit and do the same thing. Also, my shift indicator on the dash will click and blink while driving. It will do it a couple of times without a load.... I checked the fluid and it looks good and taste good (Not burnt)..

it might be the governor pressure solenoid, costs about $400 installed. It went on my truck at 140K miles

Well, took it to the dealer and they have no idea what it is wrong with it. The hooked it up to the computer and it only had a code of PO513: (Skim Key) It does it pretty bad when a trailer is hooked up to it.

You do realize that you got hosed for about $250 worth of labor, right.

The gov solendoid and the pressure sensor run about $125 total.

All you need to do is drain the tranny fluid, drop the pan, remove the filter and then remove the 5 bolts that hold the bracket securing the gov solenoid and press sensor.

Pop them out, put the new ones in and reverse the process.

Tell the dealer to hook up the StarScan an get the line pressure readings.

What you need is the requested pressure and the actual pressure from the governor solenoid.

1-2 shift should be ~28 psi
2-3 shift should be ~50 psi
3-4 and TC lock should be between 95 - 128 psi depending on engine RPM.

That Invalid SKM Key is nothing. That usually shows if there is any kind of programmer or other fooling device on the truck, but it doesn't affect anything.

Well guys, I went to the dealer again this morning but with my trailer this time. The Mech. hooked up his computer and we took it for a ride. He said everything looked ok and that the computer was not throwing codes. He said the pressures looked fine and didn't see any issues. I told him I have the Edge attitude w/the juice. He said maybe its coming from that system. I called edge today and they said there system doesn't have anything to do with the transmission setup or software. They did say unhook the system back to stock and see if that takes care of the shifting..

The Edge IS what's throwing that Invalid SKM key. That's a common on that comes up with stand alone boxes. It's one of the give aways that something is fooling the ECM.

Also, it's NOT what is messing with your tranny. The Edge doesn't have any control over the tranny.

What did he say the pressure were AT the time of shifts?

He probably doesn't even know what the pressures are suppossed to be. That's not uncommon.

I just took off the Edge juice w/attitude and it is not miss shifting or blinking and clicking anymore. It looks like its in the edge system. I called them today and they said it should not have anything to do with it... I will send it in and have them check the program out..

I'm going to run tomorrow without the edge system operating. I will just leave it stock and pull my trailer. I have about a 100 miles to run so that should give me a good indicator on what is happening...

He didn't give me any numbers, He just said the pressure looks good while I was driving. He said all he works on at the dealership was the transmisions. He said normally the computer will pick up a code if there are any issues that would effect the tranny...Electrical Etc...
