Default Chrysler Recall?

I got a letter on the mail from the headquarters of Chrysler about a recall on the 'STEERING LINKAGE' system on our Ram Trucks from 03-09 years. The drag link inner joint may fracture under certain driving conditions. This can cause loss of steering control and cause a crash without any warning. Anyone else got this letter. I already made an appointment with my dealer for Monday. Just passing it on!!

I got it too but I read it as if you had problems with your steering before, the part they fixed it with was a problem part and needed replaced. I read through it fast so I may be misinterpreting it.

It states that if you've had replacement work done on the steering or do not know the repair history of your truck you should bring it in for the replacement.

At least thats how I read it.

Apparently if it was not torqued to proper specs they have to replace it. I had my truck in a few weeks ago on the day the recall came out and they told me about it. They said if the linkage is not torqued right it HAS to be replaced. They can not re-torque it.

we had an 07, at about 20,000 mi. backed it out of the driveway and SNAP! the sector shaft out of the steering box snaped off and the drag link and pitman arm fell to the ground. took it in and they replaced everything to do with the steering.... little scary...
