Default 2007.5 6.7l issues...need advice

Just got my 3500 from the dealer. Just turned 22000 and had to have the turbo cleaned and the O2 sensor replaced. The techs advice to me was to "beat the hell" out of my truck and that will force the truck into regen. This advice does not sit real well with me...any of you CTD gurus have any experience or advice for me? I've heard "take it to 100 mph on the freeway"...., "Drive with the exhaust brake on all the time"...and the list goes on. Now I need your help, please advise... Tke Dan

I dont know about beat the hell out of it but you have to use it for what it was designed for hauling and towing. It won't do well as a commuter vehicle.

Smile Ram 2500 with 6.7 L Cummins

I purchased my Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 6.7 L Diesel new in September of 2008. The check engine light came on before my first 1000 miles. Had it the light cleared last at about 10,000 miles. Yesterday at 14,400 miles, the truck broke down and had to be towed to the dealer. They are telling me the emmission system is clogged and needs to be cleaned. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch - I just like the 2500 truck. After reading many postings on this site, I get the feeling I'm in for a lot of misery...... Do these issues center arounfd the BlueTec system? Are the most of the problems mainly related to the engine components that control emmissions. Any help/explanations would be appreciated. I traded in a 2004 Ram 2500 with 5.9 L Diesel for this truck. Never had one issue with the 04 after about 90,000 miles. Guess I should have kept that one. Thanks.

yes all of the issues are because of the bluetec emissions system. There are kits out to delete the system but you also delete your warranty.

I'm at 48K miles on my truck with a few upgrades. At 22K had to have injectors cleaned(Damn oklahoma fuel). But other than that I LOVE my 5.9L. This is my first Diesel and i drive it like I stole it. I Work construction as an electrician. So sometimes it gets loaded down. I usually work out of town. And I always drive like i'm in NASCAR.

first time posting, i have about 46k on my 07.5 6.7l had a few problems when first bought. emision light was coming on took it to dealer had reprogramed. now light only comes on when it gets close to needing an oil change or idles to long. i usually just take it for about an hour drive above 60 mph. this will allow it to go into regeneration. and it runs great getting about 20 to 22 mpg at 65 mph. still trying to decide if i put 4" on it.

Even Cummins admits the emissions systems on the 6.7L do not work properly and they were pressured by Chrysler to rush them to market. I've never heard anything good about the 6.7s since they've come out.

well bluetech is actually a system using urea injection to clean the emissions even more. the DPF is not considered bluetech but just the 08 emissions standards if you wanted a diesel that is what you got. the 6.7 is a good motor just having emission issues as far as i know. that is what they are trying to figure out. friend has a 08 with appx 160,000 on it now if not more and no problems yet but he uses it for its designed purpose

Sort of right.

There are two parts to the Bluetec system.
One called DeNOx which includes the oxidizing catalyst and the DPF exhaust aftertreatment.
The other is AdBlue which is the urea injection.
I didn't think they were using the urea injection on the 6.7L yet.
I thought it was being rolled out for 2010 models.
