Exclamation Bd Steering Box Stabilizer

About a year ago i got in a front collison in my truck. I went through a red light hit a mustang totaling his car, i drove my truck to work the next day. HA HA But my steering was messed up from that day forward. After 2 track bars and 3 diffrent alignments I have the steering pretty much back to what it was. My question is this, has anyone used a BD Steering Box Stabilizer, does it do what it says it will do and is it worth the money?

I've got a stabilizer on mine- not sure which brand. Basically it's going to help support the sector shaft and help prolong the life of the steering box and it will help with play in the steering a little.

Most people who have them reccomend them, it also helps support the frame a little in front.
It's on my list of things to get.

I helped my son install one on his truck. I am going to fabricate one for my truck using his as a pattern. The BD steering stabilizer definately helps the steering and strengthens the front end as stated above.

I have one from Defiant and think it works ok. Have nothing bad to say about it.

I am however in the middle of swapping the box out as it is shot. Most likely the wear & tear on the box came before the stabilizer.

I just recieved today a rebuilt box from http://redheadsteeringgears.com Talked with them about their rebuild process and it sold me. Have a Napa box sitting in the TT waiting to go back.

I am planning on a DIY writeup if anyone is interested.

Everyone knows my opinion on these.
They should never be used to "fix" anything. If you have a good solid steering system it will help improve it. But if you have worn parts, yu will still have worn parts after the install.
I may try one of these on my 3rd gen as I just installed 34s and I have some wandering. I had my wife turn the steering wheel and there was some sector shaft deflection from the weight of the motor and tires.

i dont recomend them on the 2nd gens as the frame horns are severly lacking in the bracing dept.
If you know someone that has a 2nd gen and one of these braces have them turn the wheel while the truck is running and you go under the truck and look at the brace, you'll be able to see the frameflex to the point where the brace brace moves and puts pressure on the sector shaft.
Lesimon, if you are going to fabricate one only tie the bracket to one frame rail. that is the only proper design on the 2nd gens. the 3rd gen front frame horns are way more beefy
