Default tranny problems?

my truck has about 130,000 miles on it and i got the tranny fluid changed and with new filter of course. but now when i press the gas the truck has to get to about 2000 rpms before it will start moving. if i drop it in first it will get going around 900 or 1000 like it used to all the time? and i have no idea what is wrong with it. any help would be appreciated

sounds like the trans is starting in second.. possible sensor or solenoid .... is the fluid level full check engine light? otherwise would help to hook up to a scanner to see what the clutch values look like...

Do you have any particular time that you notice it doing this? Mine does the same thing, only mine will sometimes start in 3rd gear! When it goes to this 3rd gear madness even when I manually shift down into 1st, it will only go back to 2nd.

Mine will usually only begin this after i've gone above 50 or 55mph for any time over a minute or two.

It will go back to normal as soon as I turn the truck off and on again. I have just spent the money and replaced:

Transmission Speed Sensor (not the one on the rear dif, on the back of the bell)
Transmission Solenoid
Governor Pressure Sensor

Truck is still misbehaving =( I have done all of this in the past week. Anybody else with any suggestions?

I have a similar problem. I experience the "2nd gear" take-off also. Although mine seems to work fine if I downshift to Low 1 or Low 2. May be coincidence, but mine happened on day 4 of a heat wave here in New Hampshire with high humidity. Once the weather dropped back down to mid 80's and the humidity dropped, it went back to normal. I wondered if the high humidity was somehow causing an electrical issue? Condensation shorting something out?

I'm at about 145000 miles and haven't changed out the tranny fluid or filter.

i would also like to point out that the trans was rebuilt at about 160k miles by the previous owner. He had receipts showing the work done by a reputable shop. He said that the truck was doing this before AND after the rebuild.

What all electrical components are not directly attached to the transmission that still have some degree of control over it? Does the main computer have much control over the transmission? Should I consider replacing that and wiring leading to the trans?

Any thoughts?

@amercier - Fluid and filter has been replaced at regular intervals, goes to show how much you get for actually taking care of it =( Fluid and filter was replaced when all three other parts went on as well.

I have no check engine lights or stored codes either. The truck thinks its behaving as it should.

I am stuck thinking this is electrical since a simple off and on with the ignition makes the truck work normal again, parked or neutral rolling. However everything in my head screams pressure related, the truck thinks its still moving fast enough to stay in 2nd or 3rd.

I have literally grown accustomed to turning my truck off while rolling in neutral and turning it back on coming up to a slowdown/traffic jam so that I don't damage the tranny/tq converter trying to accelerate in 2nd or 3rd. I wonder how long before my starter goes.

what i have been doing is shifting it manually and its a little better. also if i just let it roll by itself for a second before i press the gas then it takes off better.
