Default 3 waterpump replcemnts on 03 dodge dsl

We have two 2003 cummings diesel trucks in the family. The 1st one is a 03 standard cummings turbo diesel and he replaced his water pump at 107,000 miles when the pump went out. The other one is a 2003 cumming turbo diesel HO and the water pump has been replaced the second time now ....once at 86,000 and recently at 127,000. Anyone else having problems with their water pumps??

let me guess you are going to the autoparts store and buying a rebuilt one
try going to a CUMMINS DEALER with the serial number in hand and buy a new one they are not much more then the autoparts store Also check your antifreeze mixture and make sure you are 50/50 if not you need to be. Antifreeze lubes the waterpump if you have have more water then antifreeze the bearing is not getting lubed.

FYI the 1st time the water pump went out at 86,000 miles I went to my local dodge dealer and they replaced it with their water pump. When it went out again at 127,000 miles, I decided to go to my local parts store and bought one there but it was NOT a remanufactured one. As to not much difference in cost....I called Dodge and priced the water pump...they wanted $295.00 and the one from the parts store was $105.00. My antifreeze/water mixture is 50/50 and probably even a little better than that as I live in a state where it gets -40 degrees in the winter. Seems coincidental for 3 water pumps to go out and all three were in 03 diesels.

That is crazy that they would go out like that. I work on forklifts with cummins engines and I've seen then hit 10,000 hours never needing a water pump. The motor needed to be replaced before the water pump go figure.
the motors that I work on is 5.6, 6.7,8.3,8.1 Cummins
I haven't seen anything like that. Maybe all the water pumps that you got was started on friday and finshed on monday
Alot of people think that that crap you buy and autozone and murrays is the greatest thing around and better then dealer cause its cheaper
I'll still buy my Cummins engine parts at a Cummins Dealer
Sorry I wasn't much help

My water pump went out at 50 k miles. From what I have gathered from all the diesel forums, this happens often. Not just on the 03's.
