First of all Hi.. newbie here....

I have a 2004 1/2 Dodge 3500 Quad cab Dually Diesel HO, Bone stock except for chrome tip and 19in wheels... It currently has 9500 miles, I am the original owner.. I have called the dealership and they give me BS about how they cant work the issue unless I have a check engine light on... I currently get 11 miles to the gallon on cruising speed "2000 RPMs" with no trailer or cargo. The truck runs great but the gas mileage sucks...

Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so what is the common fix for it?

Thanks everyone and I look forward to more truck talk.

nice truck, are those taller than stock tires? Taller tires will throw off fuel milage calculations making it seem like the milage is worse than it actually is.

How much bigger are your new tires over the stocker's? if they are a few tire sizes bigger it could have your speedo out by 5-15% depending on tire size. What PSI are you running on your tires? Also, have you changed your fuel filter is your air filter clean? I think it's that you only have 9500 miles on the CTD....it's still being broken in....I did not see any significant fuel change till around 30K miles on my 04 HO.

Yea she is a tank but drives like a cadillac... I tow a 30 foot enclosed trailer with a 2003 Cobra in the back and you cant even tell its there...

The tire size is 19.5.... 1.5 inches radius larger then stock, we have already figured out.... about 5% in change. We have already changed out the fuel filter and air filter. We just changed the fuel filter yesterday and the air filter was about 1k miles ago.

Still no change in mileage... We did the calculation's on how many miles were on the truck with a full take and put us at 11.4mpg on average.

BigBadmagnum do you remember what your mileage was when you bought it and what it is now?

When it was new I was getting about 15 MPG that 3:73 gearing, 4 speed auto on 33X12.50R17 tires. When I hit around 30K miles it bumped up to 18.5 to 19 MPG highway. I am running a more aggressive tire Toyo M/T 33x12.50R18 with Edge Juice with Attitude and AFE CAI and 4" free flowexhaust (Turbo Back) and have just over 100K miles and I am getting 19.5 to 20.5 MPG highway.

I think just give your truck some time for break in period!
