Question Which is the better early Cummins

I know nothing about the 90 model cummins but would like to make my 1985 W350 360 4bbl a project. If I understand correctly, there are two. One has the engine code "C" and one has a "8". Which is the better one? ...better power? ...fuel mileage? ...lasting? Thanks in advance.

The real early ones are non turbo and the cylinder head is also different.
definitely get the later with turbo and intercooler.
The manual trans is stronger than the stock auto if your adding extra power too.

wow... i dont know about that...

the 88 to 91.5 were turboed, but no intercooler,91.5 to 93 were intercooled. the non I/C also have a different cam than the intercooled engines, and they have a larger boar for the injector nozzles in the head, but there are bushings available to put intercooled injectors in. a lot of guys like the non intercooled cams over the intercooled ones, the only other difference is how the KSB on the injection pump works.
