Default Fuel gauge

I have a 01 Ram 2500 4X4 that I put a new injector pump recently. Shortly after the installation my fuel gauge started reading wrong. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Can the gauge be adjusted?

that's weird but the gauge and Injection pump don't have anything to do with each other. Is it reading all the way full or empty?

Are you sure it was the injection pump and not the lift pump retro kit. Pizzo correct the injection pump has nothing to do with the fuel level gauge. You may just have two different problem that you need to fix. In the 2nd gens there is a real common problem with the fuel level senders going out.

Thanks for the responses and sorry for my delay in getting back to you. I replaced the lift and injector pump at the same time. I didn’t put the lift pump that goes inside the tank though. The fuel gauge problem didn’t happen immediately; it took several weeks or more and happened gradually. Now ½ on my gauge is near empty. The reason I thought they may be related is I was talking to a guy who had an 2000 model and mentioned when he replaced the injector pump his gauge “hasn’t been right since”

Thanks again

I have heard something about a retro kit that goes in the tank could he have put that in his 2000 and you misunderstood what he meant? then yes you would have a fuel pump and sender all one unit. but in your case NO it really has nothing to do with the fuel gauge. One thing I would do is check your resistance in your wire. their shouldn't be any since it works off resistance anyways none should be in the wire it will throw off the gauge. then check your sender take if out of the tank ground the ground wire and move the float. ground wire may ground through the plug I don't know but junk Chevy has a wire grounding the sender to frame that always looses ground and stops the pump and gauge from working.
