I don't have stock exhaust, and I am starting to think it could even be the wastegate or something dumping extra exhaust or somethiong, because it does seem to be related to to boost.
I have the boost alarm on my attitude set at 36 psi, and when I hear the noise, I hear the boost alarm shortlt thjere after.

Coal Train- What levels of boost should I see with the edge?
And also, Thank you very much for all your help. I think it's really cool that guys that know as much as you do are willing to help guys like me. I appriciate it!
we are all in this together. Dude
lets say your in 3rd gear 2500 rpm hold it at 2500 rpm it sounds like a spark knock on a gasser. it could be at a different rpm or gear when it does it. i just pulled them numbers off top of my head

If we are talking about the same thing its normal and all diesels do it more if it was a old 671 Detroit Diesel. your causing it with the amount of pedal in responce to engine power output your not dragging the motor but your not loading the motor at the same time your not creating any power
dragging the motor = put truck in 1 gear take off mashing the skinny let off with out clutch. That force that just tossed your A$$ out the front window dragging the motor Yankee words

I can't think of what the instructor called it of course that was years ago

Thanks for all the help guys....
Do you know what kind of boost I should be seeing out of my truck with the edge installed?
What kind of boost levels are safe on the factory turbo and injectors?

The highest you'll see on the Edge is 41 - 42 psi. That's the limit of the OEM manifold pressure sensor and that's where the Edge gets it's reading.

Really though, anything beyond 32 psi on the stock turbo is a waste. It's outside the efficiency map at the point and all it does is heat up the air.

45 psi is the critical point. Bark the stock turbo up that high and you'll be pulling pieces out of your intercooler.
