Depends on how much water got in the truck. If the carpet insulation got wet, you're probably going to get mold growing in there.

I would suspect the sunroof drains before the 3rd brake light, and I would recommend dropping your headliner to verify - have a buddy hose down the roof while you're inside looking for the water.

In my case (08 2500) it was the sunroof drain - somehow it got completely unhooked from the sunroof track on the passenger front corner.

Volkswagen had self-closing sunroof drains, and so many problems that they issued a recall and cut the ends off so the drains just dumped out. If you park under a lot of trees, or live in a dusty area, I'd recommend doing likewise with your truck.

It is a new truck and would like to know if there should be anything else they should do to my truck to dry it out internally or if this would not of effected anything to worry about. After reading other complaints on this issue, I cannot understand why this problem has not been fixed at the manufacture?? The dealership knew right away what the problem was, so obviously they have had this problem alot, they asked me if my truck was pointed downward, and yes it was, as my driveway is on a slight slope..Little peeved...any comments or suggestions?

Jake,

I would recommend speaking with the Service Manager at your dealer. They'll be able to let you know if there was a lot of water in the vehicle and what needed to be cleaned. Especially since they were the ones who diagnosed the problem and saw the damage that was done.

I would also suggest keeping invoices from the repair, just to be on the safe side.

If there are any other questions you have, feel free to PM me.

That sucks. When I had the issue thinking it was the cab lights, I clear siliconed everything, but it turns out the drains were clogged. The sun roof actually had little troughs to catch the water leaking in from the sunroof and drain tubes down the A pillar.. When it overflowed, it just fulled up the headliner and came in the grab handle of the driver side. I almost siliconed the sunroof but later found out it was not closing all the way and there is a fix for that. I took it ot the dealer and they did something with the computer that made the sunroof close all the way. I would have never guessed the computer could be adjusted to make the sun roof close.
