Default PSM air intakes

Has anyone used any of their products? Suppose to be better than any of the name brand air intake kits. Was considering one of their kits along with the Smarty Jr., which PSM recommends.

Thanks,

As confirmed by what testing standard?....

I'm just saying, my intake temps have rarely been much over the ambient air temps.

The amount of heat generated by the compression of the turbo is WAY MORE than will ever be noticed by something like that.

This is just me, but it looks like $10 worth of stuff from Home Depot being sold for $99 + shipping.

I agree with you guys that it does seem to be stuff easily purchased at your local Home Depot. Not worth the $99 price. But what about the concept? Would this type of set up work better than say a K&N, Banks, etc. intake system. It would seem to work better at keeping the hotter air out and allowing the cooler outside air in.

Well, let's do a little experiment......

Go to AutoZone and rent one of the scan tools and set it to read the Air Intake Temp, drive around and see what it does.

Then take the air intake temp sensor out of the filter housing and put it......wherever and see what kind of differences you get.

Guys,

Here's a data shot I did on the truck today.

One temp is the actual temp from the Outside Air Temp Sensor and the other is the temp at the Air Intake Temp Sensor.

Cruising at 50 MPH, 1350 RPM, the difference between the two is 12 degrees and I have a straight shot to my intake.

As you can also see, there are things in this that are a give away if you've had a programmer or other fooling device on your vehicle. See the CLR DST, CLR Time and TRP SNC CLR?.....with those low numbers, it's a sure sign that there was a programmer or tuner involved. That's just the standard readout, that's not even looking hard.

If I were to go deeper into it and look at MAX RPM's, MAX BOOST, MAX SPEED, LOAD %, IDLE TIME, % TIME AT IDLE, etc.....then you start seeing it pretty easy.

I'm just posting that for those that think ANY programmer leaves no trace it was there.
