Default i need to increase my mpg!!!!!!

ive got a 2006 ram 2500 6 speed im running stock gears 35's im currently getting about 17-18 mpg cruiseing.
i just bought a 40 acre plot about 400 miles south of me.. so i will be making quite a few weekend trips back and forth now that we have this land... i need to get my mpg as high as possible to make these trips better on the pocket book.. i was looking into the snow performance water meth injections which is soposed to increase mpg by 3 but its a pretty penny at 1000 dollars.. any body use it and can justlfy the increase? or know of a less expensive maker? also what about a programer which one gets the best milage????
i noticed about a 1 mpg increase across the board going to 35's im debating getting 37s i wonder if the drop in rpm would help me??? any other suggestions??? i already have a s&b intake and a straight pipe exhaust...

For comparison - I have an 07 2500 5.9 auto and see 22mpg on the highway, around 19 city.

Just installed a Smarty Jr and have it set up in the Fuel Economy (40 hp increase) mode. The unit came highly recommended by several members of this and other forums. Was told of possibility of seeing 2-3 more mpg, but will have to see.

Winter blend fuel you will see a decrease in fuel mileage anyways. smarty is the best way to go for fuel mileage.

Larger tires will only hurt fuel mileage.

not nessisary because i gained fuel milage going to 35's it will usually kill milage because of the extra weight but the deisels can turn them no prob.. i gained easily a full mpg going to the larger tire.

Things that will net you better mpg. 1) air up tires ( I run 65 psi all around), 2) drive with purpose accelerate slower, anticipate stops and coast in, 3) Slow down 65mph will net me 20+ mpg, 70 will net about 19mpg, 75 and all bets are off. 4) try different fuel stations, I find a big difference from one to the next, 5) Try your stock intake vs the S&B, also try a muffler. I have read several posts about people loosing mileage by "opening up" the intake and exhaust.

I run the stock air filter and cold air intake with the torque tube gutted and a second gen 24v intake horn. My cat is still in place and functioning. I am also running a Smarty Jr at level 3 (100hp) this set up recently netted me 21.4 running a long trip with the cruise set at 65.

As far as spending $1000 for 3 mpg gain, run the numbers and see how long it will take to pay you back. Also ask the dealer if they will give you a full refund if you don't get 3 mpg out of it. In my experience, mileage claims by aftermarket products are inflated and mostly not true.
