as you can see from the above, you can see i have come to a crossroad. the truck is a 3500, 5.9, dually, four speed auto, 2007, i'm in a quandary about buying a plan from old replublic. the plan is worth 3400.00 and will give me til 160,000 k's and til 2015. it is the gold plan and covers everything except normal wear and tear. i have had two problems with this truck, the track bar went out at 21,000 k's and i had to replace the e-brake handle other than that it has been great. all my miles are either highway empty or loaded with a 10' camper and pulling our jeep. has anyone bothered with this prolonging of warranty and will it be worth it, thanks for the time.

If you can get an extended warranty i would go for it! CTD's cost abit to fix, and if you don't have to pay for it the better, My 05 had little problems up to 100,000 mls. But after that, ball joints $1,300. Hub bearing, rotors & pads $2,000. Trans rebuild $3,500. and now injection pump $2,500. Thats probably what i would have paid if a dealer did the work, but saved big on doing the work mysef.(still paid for parts)!!
I'm at a 180,350. miles, hope i'm good for awhile!!

Remember, your engine warranty goes out to 100K / 5 years.

It all depends on if you can d the work yourself or if you pay someone else to do it.

If it's the latter, then the extended warranty might be a good idea....just check the fine print, they can be some shady MF'rs.
