I am new to the fourm and had a couple of questions...I am looking to get a used 03-06 Ram 2500 5.9 CTD just most of the used trucks i'm looking at have right around 100,000 miles on them. Whats is the average life of the CTD engines?

 

Too many varriables! Heard of 300,000+ nobody really knows or can perdict! Have 180,000+ on my 05 and is still going w/ minor repair issues!

 

right i understand the whole thing with the variables i guess my main concern is dropping $23,000 for a truck with 100,000 miles on it.

 

Keep looking, you'll find a good one for the right price. 05-06 & some 07's.
stay with the 5.9. the 6.7 has got too many emmision crap! Maybe someone who has already repaired some of the cummins issues.

23K for an 03-05 wiht 100K on it? keep looking. I got my 06 with 42K on it for $24000

 

my 75 has over 320,000 miles on the drivetrain, with all the mods and still on stock engine internals even head gasket, my 98 has over 220,000 on it and all original parts too, putting about 600hp to the tires (for now)
