Default Unknown Problem

I have a Dodge Ram 2500 Cummings with a problem the garage can't understand. It starts chugging like its going to die, then the engine races. They replaced the injection pump and lift pump to the tune of $1550. Drove it less than two miles and it started the same thing. Any ideas??? Anyone???

Any smoke?

Bad pedal response?

Is it when the truck is cold or hot?

Need some more info......

Off hand, it sounds like the trans is shifting to a higher gear and possibly locking the TC.
