Default 2500 losing power

my 2500 4x4 diesel will just lose power going down the road. You mash the pedal and nothing happens it just idles. Then it will just start working again in a minute or two sometimes I have to turn it off and restart it then it is fine. I feel something is about to go out and I do not want to be stuck on the side of the road but I really dont know where to start looking on this. Any help would be great thanks.

i would guess its a 98.5 - 02 truck, sounds exactly like what happens when the lift pump is failing, if this is your year of truck, dont drive it anymore untill the problem is fixed or the vp44 injection pump will die, but the damage may be done already...

Thanks yes it is 2001 but replaced that fuel pump last year. Just plugged it up to a supperchip reader and it gave me a code P0121 and the check engine light is on. The book said TPS voltage does not agree with MAP.

P0121 Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance Problem
Witch is normally the TPS it self is worn out or wires are corroded. You will need to test that part before changing it out.. I can't find or remember how to test it.. The Black wire, test the volts with Fluke meter. Something like that I forgot.. or is that the APPS... Anyway sorry I forgot what the proper procedure is. Maybe DodgeTrucker can take chime back in here and get the correct way to check it
Sorry i'm not much help today

either way i would still get a pressure reading from the lift pump, i have seen a few fail in way less than a year, and that is the exact symptom you have, the apps could be giving you some problems, you can try to reset it or replace it, but it could still be throwing the code because of a fuel problem
