Default Fan Clutch -- Need help

Any tricks or suggestions as to loosening the fan clutch nut from the pully? The nut is the one that is about 1 & 7/16" in size.

96 Dodge 2500 12v.

Thanks in advance.

if the pulley has any bolts on the front, wedge a screwdriver between them.

if it has the holes only, see about sticking a screwdriver through it, but be careful what you push against behind it. don't break something fragile.

leave the belt on, and squeeze it. it acts as a brake.

here's a tool to grab the holes in the pulley.
you can make something similar with bolts and a flat bar.

some people use a strap wrench. it didn't work for me.

i tried vise grips on the pulley. it would have worked if i'd had a bigger size.

I went to NAPA and had to buy it, but they give you three or four days to return it, for the full price. It's basically just borrowing it from them free.
