Default 03 Dodge 2500

Just looked at a 03 2500 laramie with the 5.9. Fully loaded.

The owner recently passed and his sons were selling the truck. Aparently the vehicle was purchased from auction with 130 000k on it, but then original owner was using a k&n airfilter, engine got dusted and original owner spent 8500 repairing it. 73 000 k on rebuilt motor.

Is a rebuilt motor reliable?

Aparently the transmission was just serviced as well for $2500.

Truck looks to be very well maintained aside from a dent in a door and the rear tailgate.(aparently owner was not the most attentive driver in later years)
Owner owned a mechanic shop so truck was aparently serviced frequently.
No leaking seals or anything. I inspected it and it looked pretty clean.

Price at 15000 firm.

what do you think? good or bad?

could be good if all the documents are their for the rebuilt engine...
Reliable would count on who rebuilt it.. I've heard from guys at the shop telling me about horror stories when they rebuilt engines and they scatter on the Dyno... It all matters how the engine is built how clean its put together and if they Wasn't drunk or out late partying the night away the night before the shift and forget to torque something correctly.. But if that was the case it would have scattered already
