I was curious, what is the overall impression of the 2010 HD from Dodge. I know they didn't change the drivetrain much, so there shouldn't be too many problems, but I was curious about the overall impression now, after about a year on the market.

 

Their was alot of changes made to the interior on the new 2010 dodges along with the addition of a more advanced exhaust aftertreatment system it will be using urea an amonia based fluid to create a chemical change inside the aftertreatment system to further reduce nox emissions. Overal great truck couldnt go wrong at all.

 

Really? I thought that the 6.7L didn't use Urea because it was already 2010.5 emissions compliant? That is the main reason I am looking at the Cummins over Ford.

 

They don't use urea in the pickups yet.....its coming in another year or two. It IS in the new cab n chassis right now.

 

That's what I thought, so it seems, after about a year on the road, these trucks are performing well, not many problems?

 

I just picked up a 2010 2500 crew cab with the 6.7 and so far I am more than happy with it. The only thing that I found bad with the interior is the headrests seem to be angled a bit to far forward, can strain on your neck after a while.

 

The new 2010s are BAD!! Wish I could afford one. Not a whole lot of changes in the drivetrain, although the ECM and TCM are tied together.

No urea on the pickups. I believe Cummins and Dodge are wanting to stay away from it, although its really probably not that big of a deal. Starting in 2011 (currently) the chassis cabs trucks use urea.

 

Scatpak you say the 2010's are BAD just wondering if you can give some info on why they are bad.

 

Bad...as in badass.

 

You can pull the headrests out and turn them around. Problem sloved. As far as Urea goes I think that Dodge is trying to keep from going to Urea on the HD's and they use it on the cab and chassis because in that application there is a graeter possibility of long idle times due to the nature of what those trucks are used for. Therefore the regen cycle would not be as effective causing them to go into a forced regen more often or even having a completely plugged DPF.
