Default turbo spooling up

Just wondering if it is normal to hear my turbo spooling up when climbing hills on the highway, I believe it is normal when laying into the pedal, but just putting regular driving loads on the engine when highway driving, I'm not so sure about. Thanks,
birchbark

ps-I have an 05, 3500 with the 5.9

Any time you add more load to the engine, whether its pulling a load or going up a hill, you are going to hear the turbo more if you are trying to maintain speed.

What about when your slowing down and the exhaust brake kicks in?

exhaust brakes are going to make a lot of noise when they are in use, they basically just plug the exhaust pipe causing a lot of pressure to build, but yes it too is normal
