Default Torque Converter- Lock, unlock...again and again

Over the past two weeks it's been doing it. No codes. Took it to a shop which "I" trust. The tech monitered the function of my 47RE while I drove around. The results was lock and unlock confirmed by the computer. He found no obvious reasons for this. He also had no "fix." I was afraid of that. Today I was doing some under the hood lookie looing, just happen to inspect the negative post on the pass side battery. There are three cables coming from the negative post. All connections were loose. Took the post off and cleaned it. Applied some lit. grease and took for a 25 mile test ride. So far so good. No signs of the lock and unlock that I noticed. I am thinking that the problem was between the PCM and the grounding of the truck. Seem logical?

bad ground connections are #1 cause of converter locking problems...

Could that also be the reason for a shutter when accelerating from a stop. It happens in forward or reverse.

Talked to a Performance Diesel shop and told him about the shutter and low fuel mileage. W/O them diagnoising (next week) they were not sure but the fuel mileage could be the result of the torque converter.

Any opionions?

I will look at the battery connections tonight.

that sounds like the converter its self is on its way out, the electrical issues will only cause problems with the converter lock up

It goes into a diesel specialist (so they say) late this week. We will see what they say.

Default Please help...explain

can anyone please explain how a locking converter works? we just bought a grand caravan and the tranie feels strange but this is the newest automatic trans we have ever owned. it feels like there is an extra gear shift or loss of power but what i read says its the torque converter locking and its normal.
i dont know if its normal or i should be worried.
thanks everyone!
