Exclamation 04 2500 Cummins 4x4 - Trailer Issue

Hello All,

My father owns the above model and is having problems with the turn signals and brake lights working on the bass boat trailer. Ruled out it being the bass boat trailer by hooking up my 01 Dodge 1500 4x4 and used his and my plug and the trailer works perfect. My question is what it can be. I pulled apart the female connector and looked at the wiring behind the cannon plug and it was fine, all wires were connected. Looked and all the fuses in the fuse box and none of them were blown. If someone could help me out please let me know....

Thanks,
Kyle

Just a tip for next time...

Please use a more descriptive thread title, stating a very short summary of the issue or a part involved in the issue, rather than just the truck that has the problem. Makes it easier for newbies that are searching the forum to find things.

I will move this over to the diesel section to try and get you help from the diesel guys. I know that on my 2001, there are two "fuse boxes", one in the cab and a Power Distribution Center (PDC) that has a lot of relays and fuses under the hood. I am assuming a 3rd gen Ram like the 2004 will be similar. Did you check both?

Check the underhood fuses. My father-in-law's truck did the same thing.

I don't know if your problem can be the same, but I just read this thread. Pay special attention to reply #11.

Good Luck...!

I had an issue with the right turn signal and brake light on the trailer not working. I did see (on this site somewhere) there was a bulletin that requires the TIPM to be reflashed in order to sustain a larger amp draw. Took it to Dodge dealer and for 75 buck it was reflashed and everything is working fine now. I have a 2006 2500 Quad Cab w/5.9
