Default A question about the diff system on a 2005 5.9 Cummings

I have a 2005 mdl Ram 2500 Laramie 5.9 Cummings 4x4. Yesterday i had to drive out onto a small patch of grass wich was going slightly downhill. It was wet outside, so i eased it down to be able to get the car trailer i had with me to flaten out so we could get the car off.

When i was to reverse back up in 4 Low the left wheels started to spin on the grass, wich turned into mud rather fast as it had rained during the night and abit in the morning.

I thought these trucks had a rear lock in them when u put it into 4 low?

Or is this an extra option? I had to get the trailer off, and get a tow out of the slope, as i could not go forward, as that would have ment going into the whete feild.

lockers are an option, not all trucks have them, rear lockers will work reguardless of t-case position, but its possible you have one that is no longer working

90% of 4wd are three wd and if you don't have a ltd slip diff on a 4wd you have a 2wd, I find 4 hi is more advantages in all 4wd situatiuons, in 4 low with my hemi, I can stop on grass shift into 4 low and dig a garve, a CTD has more LBS and more tourqe, stay in 4 hi.
