Default Rpm's

Hello new to the forum! I would like to know why my truck holds RPM's for so long before idleing down between gears......my truck is a 2003 2500 with 5.9 cummins with 276000 miles.. and is ther anything i can do so it dont do that....I know its a dodge thing because my 06 megacab did the same thing ...is ther a fix for this???

because of the common rail injection. it had to loose pressure in the rail.
