Default My first Diesel..FINALLY!!!

Finally got rid of the megacab hemi, and got into my first diesel.Ram 2500 MC laramie 07 5.9l,leveling kit and loving it.Dont really care for the wheels and tire package they had on it but will trade them when the rubber wears off.I got lots of reading to do as in the past I have asked questions and folks have pointed some good tips into buying and benefits of owning and now Its my reality.Have to start saving money so I can buy 1 item at a time to help the needs of wanting to do minor upgrades here and there but will confirm all steps with the pros on here.Im not the best mechanically inclined person but not afraid to ask and post pics of things that are new to me.I did notice this morning we had temps drop to 46 overnite and the GP light was on longer then the 2 previous days were in the mid 50's..So with the end of summer and colder mornings coming do i need to put a block heater on the oil pan?I remember my dad use to have one one his diesel VW rabbit.Hope this first question is not to annoying and thanks in advance and for past responses..Clif

Welcome aboard!

I can't say for sure, but check behind the front bumper on the passenger's side, you probably have a block heater plug hanging down already. I know my 08 does.

all cummins have the block heater, if its not visable, its tied up somewhere around the passenger side battery, do you need it? most of the time, no, mine have started just fine at -30, but it is definatly a plus for warm up time and heater operation, as the cummins take a while to warm up, congrats on the purchas, the mods to come will be great!

They all have the block heater installed....but they don't all have the cord installed. It was an option to have the cord installed from the factory.
