CTD won't drive now?? Bad sensor and Locked up TorqueConverter ?
Okay, so I just bought this '05 Ram 2500 Cummins 2 months ago. It has been driving okay so far up until tonight. I know there is something wrong with it when I bought...
The problems: For one it has been burning oil, (its been driven 1300 miles since I got it) I believe it has blow-by. There is an oil leak coming from somewhere and can't figure it out, and using 1 qt every 200-300 miles.
So I drove it 200 mile today. And on the way home, I stop at Chick fil A then come back out to start it up a leave, and truck won't go anywhere now. Starts and idles fine no problem, but you put it in drive and the RPM's drop to 500 and it starts shooting black smoke really bad and won't move. Like the torque converter is locked up or something. When I put it back in park, the Tach shoots up to 2800 and has a hard time dropping down to normal (without touching the pedal). Does the same thing in neutral. I will be idling, and just try to get it neutral, and it won't do anything, won't rev up when I hit the throttle and won't roll backwards on the slight hill I was on. So I am pretty sure the TC is locked up since it won't move at all even in neutral.
But like I said, the tach jumps up really high w/out me hitting the throttle when you put back in park, then slowly drops to normal idle. What the heck is the problem with this? And I can't rev the engine now? A sensor of some kind maybe? I am sure the minor blow-by issue is a different prob from the prob I ran into tonight with it now not being able to drive....
Any help or advice is much appreciated...really need to get it running again shortly, or will have to tow to shop or something. Thx in advance guys!

yeah sorry to say have ran into a few issues with the converter locking up on these. make sure the fluide level is full in neutral lack of fluid will lock up the converter. the reason why it is reving up is the engine sees a load on the convertor and thinks it is trying to move but is rpm is being pulled down by load of tc thus the raise in rpm when you throw it back into park or neutral... any leaks for your engine oil?
