Default Changed fuel filter, now no start?

I decided to change my fuel filter today on my 2001 24v, vp44, 47re automatic, 2wd cummins.

I drained some fuel from the bowl with the water/fuel seperator switch before I pulled the filter. Then I replaced the filter with a new baldwin, there was still about a quater bowl of diesel in the bowl/(thing the filter goes in). Then I turned the key to on about 3-4 times to run the lift pump. Then I started the truck, it ran for about 30 sec then died on its own.

I've been lost ever since. I've tried bleeding the injectors over and over no fuel comes out. The fuel filter bowl is full, I know 100% certain the lift pump is working. We flipped the switch on the water seperator and fuel sprays out.

Theres fuel coming from the return line on the vp44. Nothing from the injector lines.

I just reset the APPS but haven't tried it yet. I've been cranking the engine over alot, could I have killed the vp44? thank you for any help.

Being an 01 you can try the Key trick to see if you have a code.. do this withOUT starting just to the on position... key on keyt off key on key off key on(so 3times ending in on and doing it somewhat rapidly, might take u a couple times your first time) and look at the odo. you will Pcm... Pdone and ECM Pdone if its code free. give it a try let me know your results. My guess is you just have air trapped somewhere still. Btw did you install the filter correct(dumb question yea yea but its not total impossible.)

There are no codes, forgot to mention that. And yes the filter is in correct, the hole is pointed down.

got it running, bled the inlet to the pump, then just cracked open injectors 1 and 3. cranked a bit then caught. runs good now.
