Default Best model year for MPG from a Ram 2500 CTD?

I'm considering buying a Ram 2500 CTD for my new towing rig, as my 99 Durango struggles to tow my 23' boat. After some research, it sounds like the DPF and other smog equipment on new 6.7 Cummins engines really hurts the MPG.

To all you CTD owners out there, what model years are the best for fuel economy?

Thanks for the help.

03/04 get the best from the Common Rails. Other than that, a 12v

I have a 07 5.9 and live in Upstate NY.With the crap winter fuel thats split im getting 18 mpg on the back country roads and alot of idle warm up time, really never get above 50 mph in the snow so im thinking come summer with better fuel ill get 19 ,maybe a little more.

I did a DPF-delete last March. See this thread: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-c...installed.html
